A little broken heart cartoon

A while back, somebody close to me was going through heartache. The boy she'd fallen in love with had broken her heart.

This was her first experience of this horrible pain.

I tried to explain that she would eventually get over him,... talking about my several experiences in life...but it didn't help. (Unfortunately for me I'm quite experienced in these matters!)

But I couldn't get through to her that she would need a little time, and go through some pain,...but eventually somebody else much better would come along and take his place.

Hard to explain these things to heartbroken teenagers.

And so I drew this, because a cartoon speaks a million words.

And I framed it and presented it to her. She smiled, cried a little, and put it in her bedroom on her dressing table. And it sat there, among the mess of hairbrushes, make-up products, and other teenage stuff. And life moved on.

And eventually, as predicted, the sadness faded. And even better, she met someone else. And now she is very happy. And the cartoon still sits there.

And one day she'll urgently need a frame for something, so she'll rip the cartoon out and bin it, and use the frame to put a photo of him and her in,...and I don't mind that. It was a cheap frame.

A lovely clean digital version of the cartoon for you to use can be downloaded here:
